Time to spread the word! Honor Flight Southern
Nevada
was recently established as a part of
the
Honor Flight Network, to focus on Southern
Nevada
and is making plans to take up to 85 WWII
veterans
on a flight of honor to Washington D.C.
Our
goal is to show our appreciation for their
sacrifices,
their bravery, their courage, and
acknowledging
their efforts that secured our
freedom!
This
will be a three-day trip, spending the main
day
at the World War II Memorial, and other landmarks
such
as the Korean War Memorial, Vietnam
Wall,
Air Force Memorial, Women’s War Memorial,
and
the Marine Corps War Memorial.
Depending
on the ability to raise needed funds,
the
flight is scheduled for October 11-13, 2013.
As
a newly established Hub, we are seeking
WWII
veterans able to make the flight, to complete
the
application process. Visit: www.honorflightsouthernnevada.
org
for an application.
Veterans
are chosen for the trip on a first-come,
first-serve
basis with consideration of their health
and
age. Several WWII veterans have applied at
the
National Honor Flight Network webpage or the
Honor
Flight Nevada webpage.
Depending
on the need, veterans are accompanied
by
trained volunteer guardians, who assist
veterans
for the day. We ask for guardians to volunteer
and
be able to pay for their part of the trip.
In
addition, guardians will need to have the physical
strength
to push a wheelchair all day and help
with
lifting or assisting veterans with various needs.
We
are supported solely through donations and
run
by volunteers. We need your help.
Please
