Quality immunization practices make for smooth flu seasons

Unlike other vaccines, influenza immunization is required for every service member, every year. The Department of Defense strives to achieve 90 percent of total force immunized by Dec. 15 of each flu season. About 80 percent of the total force had been immunized as of Dec. 3, with just 2 percent exempted.

West Africa Disaster Preparedness Initiative way forward conference opens in Ghana

The West Africa Disaster Preparedness Initiative Way Forward Conference (WADPI) kicked off Dec. 7 in Accra, Ghana. 

More than 200 attendees from West African and European, and U.S. government agencies and other public and private organizations involved in disaster preparedness and response are participating in the four-day conference, which officially closes the training portion of the WADPI.
