President's Report June 2013 vva Chapter 17

May was a busy month with Honor Flight, Veterans Guest Lodge Gala, the presentation of the Charter and Installation of the new officers at Henderson Chapter 1076, the flag placement  and retrieval and Memorial Day Ceremonies and then the  Nevada State Council and Region 8/9 per-convention meetings in Reno last weekend. there is considerable business from that meeting for us to discuss tonight.

This Thursday is open house celebration at Chapter 1076. We have been invited to attend.

To volunteer at the Veterans Home on Father Day plan to arrive at 0600 or Any time later in the morning.

Planning is going forward on the Fall Veterans Stand Down. Several of the leaders from the veterans groups involved with the stand down will be meeting here next Saturday to discuss forming a veterans leadership council tasked with coordinating various veteran activities including volunteering, sharing information and responsibilities such as the wheelchair program, honor guard, firing squad, food bank and benevolent support activities.
