From The Desk
Of The President
It
has been an active month for me
and
for Chapter 17 as you will be
hearing
when we get to Committee
Reports.
Especially of note are the developing plans
for
our First Annual Vietnam Veterans Day in Nevada
Event
at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino on March
30th.
This is a first time event we plan to sponsor on
a
yearly basis that has significant potential to become
a
major event in future years. Thank you to Joni
Giancola
for the original suggestion that we ask
Governor
Sandoval for a Proclamation and Don
Leckburg,
Pete Fabiani and Mike Giancola who is
always
here and part of whatever is happening for
putting
their heads together and running with this project.
Details
such as special guests and speakers are
being
worked out. You will find additional info elsewhere
in
this issue of The Perimeter Guard. Seating is
limited
so please call the Chapter Hall (396-2338) for
reservations.
The
Chapter was chosen as recipient of memorial
donations
to Vietnam Veterans James F Barris. The
Barris’s
often drove by the Chapter Hall but Jim never
got
around to dropping in. We celebrated his memorial
service
out at the Veterans Cemetery Thursday
afternoon
February 7th. I am assisting his wife Sherri
in
obtaining the posthumous award of the Purple Heart
Medal
he so deserves.
Patriot
Don Sacco has sufficient signatures to submit
the
application for the Charter for the new VVA
Chapter
in Henderson. Well done, Don. We very
much
appreciate all the work that has gone into this
and
are proud to have it happening so quickly. Don
plans
to have the packet ready to submit to NSC
President
Terry Hubert at the winter State Council at
our
Chapter Hall
